So I used to be in this fandom. Well okay, I used to be in a lot of fandoms, but this one in particular was my first community. I was thirteen, and therefore entirely too nervous to actually say anything - ever - but I followed everyone on LJ and I knew all the big names and I read all the fanfiction and followed all the speculation. I loved my Team 13 along with a wonderful group of people who took a few side characters and saw an amazing connection, a friendship and camaraderie, and the potential for a beautiful romance. It was a wonderful thing to watch.

Eventually I moved on to other things, new fandoms and OTPs, new muses. After a while, it seemed like the rest of the fandom had too. Sometimes, once in a very long while, I would browse through my favourite parts of the community, seemingly frozen in disuse. And then today  I found out that one of those characters - one third of my favourite trio, one half of my first OTP - is dead. In canon. For real.

And I'm not sure how to really feel. So I sit here and write a musing post to the LJ profile I hardly use anymore because I'm not sure what to do about the slightly achy feels.

To all my friends taking part, happy NaNoWriMo!

I'm not participating this year, but I will be cheering you all on and hopefully writing a little more than usual (meaning at all) in solidarity.

May your pens be swift. Good luck!

Title/chapter: Prologue: The Darkest Night
Author: ant1matter

Fandom: Hand aufs Herz [Jenny/Emma]
Rating: high T [language, violence, nekkidness]
Word Count: 970
Summary: Jenny is a werewolf, and events lead her to Cologne - and Emma.
Author's Note: Requested as a joke by Honsei, but the idea of a Jemma werewolf fic worked too well to resist. Thank you Alice for being an awesome beta. As always, comments are love.

In my mind, Jenny isn't a London native. She was born and raised in Germany, hence her perfect German and her surname, and then settled down in London after her stint as Little Heart. I think she would have a slight but noticeable German accent when speaking English, which is why it's included in this fic.

It is a miserable night.Collapse )

Jemma Day!

Jul. 10th, 2012 | 01:04 pm

Hello Jemmapeeps! (and if you're not a Jemmapeep, hello to you too, but you can ignore this ^-^)

So this Saturday, July 14th, is the one year anniversary of the television showing of Hand aufs Herz episode 197 - yes, THE episode.  In honour of this special occasion, a bunch of us got together and thought that maybe we should have a party.

Here's the plan: on the 14th, from midnight to midnight (according to Germany's timezone, which is UTC/GMT -2 hours), we want to get the old Lchat gang together on the board. There's a new public Jemma thread for those who haven't been around in a while (right here). If you want to catch up, see new creations, gif spam, and talk to old cohorts, come and hang out for a while. Even if you weren't a poster, or you stayed on fanforum most of the time, you are welcome!

New fics, art, gifs, and vids are more than welcome. I hope to see you all there!

Merry Christmas, JemmaNation [Jemmafic]

Title: A Very Hotte Christmas [part 1?]
Author: ant1matter

Fandom: Hand aufs Herz [Jenny/Emma]
Rating: light T [vaguely sexual situation]
Word Count: 2491
Summary: Hotte's back for Christmas.
Author's Note 1: Where it turns to crap around the 1000 word mark? Yeah, everything after that was written after 10pm on Christmas Eve [it's currently 1:30am and I've just finished]. Please forgive the ridiculousness of the rest of it. I may or may not continue this, but if I do you'll probably have to wait until next Christmas. Or at least New Year's Day. Also, I'm pretty sure this is the longest one-shot I've ever done.

Author's Note 2: My lovely readers, I hope every single one of you has an amazing day tomorrow, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. May your holidays be filled with family, friends, good fortune, and good food. You're all wonderful.

Christmas morning had never come this early...Collapse )

So, you remember how a few weeks ago I was talking about this big promotion at cadets?

:3

I totally got it. And I survived my first night in the position. Whoo!

Just thought I'd update.

RE: fanfic... there is more of Run in the works at the moment, but I'm still drowning in coursework so I'm putting any extra time I have towards Christmas fic. A few little gifts for you guys, for putting up with me and all. After school lets out on the 23rd I'll have time, so that'll be when Run gets a few updates. I might even have time to update the severely neglected Jemma archive!

Holy fucking fuck I knew this was coming but now that it's happening I'm FREAKING THE HELL OUT. What is this, you may ask? This is a HUGE promotion at cadets. There's three of us vying for the position of Corps Sergeant Major and I WANT THAT DAMN SPOT! I have a week to write a resume for my cadet career (and, because I'm weird like this, most likely a short essay as well) and then I have to do an interview in front of a panel of three Legion members plus our commanding officers. OH GOD THE NERVES.

And then if I end up getting the position, THAT's a whole new set of problems as well. I've never done the CSM thing before and I'm not good at being in front of the whole corps. So yeah, that's terrifying. BUT I STILL WANT IT.

In slightly less crazy news, and to give my shift key a break, I'll also say that I've dropped out of NaNoWriMo. I know, I know, sadface. I just have too much to do between cadets and school to also devote hours a day to writing. But I'm still writing when I can, and journalling a bit (it's a wonder how putting things on paper can help you sort through them). Watch this space, there'll be something coming your way soon.

And to everyone who's still waiting for the next chapter of Run... can I just say sorry? I feel like I owe you my soul for making you wait this long. I'll get there, no doubt about that, but nothing's stuck out as a good idea and I don't want to force the story forward. Though maybe I can put another flashback in there to prove I'm still alive. Hummm...

OH AND ANOTHER THING (there goes the capslock abuse again). I'm going to Guelph to see the ever lovely solar_energie at university and attend a nerd formal with her. My level of excitement about this is somewhere around "astronomic". Gonna be a good time!

So I think that shall be it. Nothing more to say. I just needed to freak out about the CSM thing.

I'm crazy.

I've decided to undertake the month-long exercise in madness and literacy that is National Novel Writing Month, called NaNoWriMo for short. That means that this month, I will be attempting to write a 50 000 word novel.

NaNoWriMo is concerned with pure output: you write like the wind and get that manuscript done, then worry about editing it up nice and pretty afterwards. The rules are simple: you start with 0 words on November 1st, and end with 50 000 or more on November 30th. If you hit 50k, you're declared a winner and get to proudly sport a t-shirt.

I'm doing this because it will force me to create a large volume of work. I have good enough taste to know that my writing isn't as good as I'd like it to be, and hopefully working on this novel will help me hone my skills and find a comfortable place as a writer. Plus, this plot bunny has been sitting on my head since April of last year, and it's kind of begging to be done. I'll probably post bits and pieces here, and I'd really appreciate feedback on them so that when the December edit frenzy rolls around I'll be able to clean up the mess and have a semi-polished, hopefully readable manuscript.

Unfortunately, this means there will be little to no fanfiction here for the next month and a bit (sorry Jemmanauts). Also, I think this might actually break my brain, so if I start posting in tongues or talking about my friend Fred the purple elephant, ignore me for a little while.

If you're interested, you can find out about the novel I'm working on here.

Wish me luck!
